Steam rolled barley is steam cooked and can be used to make up part of a balanced diet for poultry and livestock. Steam flaking gelatinizes the starch in the barley and makes it more easily digestible, providing valuable fibre to a balanced diet.
Used as a base feed or an additive to an existing feed, it is recommended that if it is a new addition to animals that it is introduced gradually over 10-14 days and should be fed in conjunction with chaff, hay and/or pasture. A buffer should be added to sheep and cattle diets to reduce acidosis.
